    ARTiculation

Viktor, a year 12 History of Art student, gave an excellent talk on “Matka muchomor I jej dzieci”, or mother mushroom and her children, a coloured lithograph by Edward Okun, 1900.

The talk was the online regional final of ARTiculation at the Courtauld Institute on Thursday 21st January. ARTiculation was established thirteen years ago to give young people a forum in which they can express their own ideas on art.

Dr. Wenny Teo the Courtauld Institute moderator ( https://courtauld.ac.uk/articulation-2021) praised Viktor for the thought-provoking presentation and investigative skills in approaching Edward Okun’s work. Dr. Teo also enjoyed the links between Okun’s history and Viktor’s exploration of the Polish context.

Viktor was selected from winning a school heat as the usual interschool heats were cancelled due to COVID-19. Viktor was one of the two winners of the regional heat and will now go on to the next stage to speak at the V and A Museum on Monday 15 March.

Several thousand young people participate nationally in ARTiculation which is open to any sixth form students studying any subject and is well placed to highlight Higher Education and career opportunities to students. It is also useful preparation for an EPQ, Personal Statements and UCAS application. ARTiculation is not solely for History of Art students and we welcome speakers from all subject areas in year 12 or 13 in September 2021.
